Stuart was incorporated in 1914 and encompasses the land west of the Indian River and that which borders the St. Lucie River. This beautiful city offers Ocean fishing, river and bay fishing, and fresh water fishing. It is known as the sailfish capitol of the world because of the high population of this game fish.
Stuart rests on an area known as the Treasure Coast for its history on 18th Century shipwrecks containing unknown amounts of gold and silver. Today, the city is listed on the national register of historic places. Popular visiting spots are also the historic Lyric Theater, the Elliot Museum and the House of Refuge.

Downtown Stuart consists of historic real estate, offering a mixture of town homes and condominiums. Beginning in the 90’s, Stuart underwent a revitalization programs such as the construction of the Evans Crary Bridge, which leads to Stuart’s Public Beaches. The success of Stuart’s revitalization program has had created a pleasant Downtown lined with shops and restaurants.
